Xena and Gabrielle pass two men fighting, but move along only to double back when they here Joxer getting involved. When they reach him, they find him wounded and he dies in Gabrielle’s arms. Xena and Gabrielle burn his body that evening. Gabrielle is ridden with guilt over his death, but Xena tells her that there is no one to blame. She then tells Gabrielle to sleep. The two lay down on the ground right by the lake in which is carrying the raft where Joxer’s body is burning.

It’s a bright and beautiful morning. Off in the distance, a rooster is cock-a-doodle-dooing. Joxer walks into a barn where Xena and Gabrielle are sleeping and he wakes them up. Xena is startled by seeing him. She is happy to see him and passes his death of as a dream. A man with horseshoes accidentally drops one onto Joxer’s foot. Xena then realizes it was not a dream. As the three leave the barn again, Xena tells them about what happened. When neither Joxer nor Gabrielle understand what Xena is trying to say about her living the same day before, Xena then tries to stop the fight that killed Joxer. Gabrielle and Joxer stray away when Xena is talking to the fighting men and Joxer manages to make someone angry. When Xena hears the commotion, she comes running. She stops another fight between two other men and everyone in the village becomes angry at her. When Xena comes back to the barn, she sees the stable man (the same man who dropped the horseshoes on Joxer) crying on the ground. He tells them that the men came looking for Xena and he would not tell which horse was hers so they killed all of the horses. Xena then runs into the barn and finds Argo dead. She then burns Argo’s body on the same lake where she burned Joxer the previous same day.

Joxer walks into a barn where Xena and Gabrielle are and he wakes them up with a surprise, fresh goose eggs. Xena tells Joxer to move, when he doesn’t, a man with horseshoes accidentally drops one onto Joxer and his face lands in the now broken eggs. Gabrielle tries to guess what is wrong with Xena and Xena tries to explain to her, again, how the day is repeating and only she can seem to remember. Joxer then tries to make a plan to stop the blood shed the villagers seem to want. He says that the three of them should become both sides enemy so they would have to work together. The two men start to fight like they did the first two times that repeating day, and Xena listens to what they are fighting about this time. She hears them arguing about a man who got hurt and Xena decides that the next time the day starts over that she must find the man who gets injured and stop that from happening so the other men will not have a reason to fight.

Xena runs and makes it to the area just as the cart is about to hit the old man. She pulls him to safety. Xena then once again tried to get Joxer and Gabrielle to understand about her repeating the day. Xena then sees the two men fighting again, this time over something meaningless. Xena then realizes that they will fight no matter what. She sends Joxer and Gabrielle away from the fight and she stops the men. Continuity and mistakes[]

  • Near the end of the episode, Joxer gets smacked by a barn door and gets knocked down. He's supposed to stay down, but watch carefully in the lower left of the screen as the actor's shadow gets up and moves away.

When Xena rants to Gabrielle and Joxer in the morning, Joxer is on the right Gabrielle on left, at night they supposedly didnt move bu Gabrielle is now on the right, Joxer on the left
